For poker players, it’s not about the money. It’s about the award and the bragging rights. World Series of Poker bracelets may be the most famous prize in the poker industry. Wearing your WSOP bracelet shows your tablemates you’re a certified winner. There are other Vegas poker mementos to add to your trophy collection if you’re lucky enough to get through a deep field. The most expensive daily tournament has a $150 buy-in, though their weekday 10:05 AM tournament is a modest $60. Glory and home game superiority can be yours for under $100 and a few lucky hands.

They’ve been giving away these awards since August 2021. According to Sanborn, previous South Point tournament winners rightfully return with their medallions to use as card protectors. Who wouldn’t? While they don’t keep official records of winners and who has the most medallions, Sanborn says “I’ve heard rumors of 19 by one person.”

South Point, though a journey from the Strip, has some of the cheapest poker tournaments in the Vegas market with some solid guarantees. If you’re looking for an inexpensive opportunity to cut your teeth in live poker and a chance to bring home some booty, it’s worth a trip to South Point. Hell, even if you lose, you can always drown your sorrows with a cheap hot dog.
